Daan Chen Residence
Daan Chen Residence
Located in the heart of Taipei, this project involves the renovation of an apartment building that is nearly fifty years old. The design objective was to rework the original layout—which was overly cramped and oppressive—to restore appropriate proportions and create a comfortable, spacious environment better suited to modern living.
By integrating the bathroom and open kitchen areas and eliminating fixed partition walls, we have created a fluid and expansive space. The walls are finished with Venetian plaster, paired with light-colored wide-plank hardwood flooring, which further enhances the sense of openness. Finally, three marble-clad utility niches—the utility cabinet, the kitchen appliance cabinet, and the kitchen island—serve as visual focal points, cleverly defining the functional zones of the living room, dining area, and kitchen.
